and how does “RIDEX” (electric plug-in pest control) get away with targeting seniors with a very scientific-sounding description of their pest control product …when in fact, its a scam ?
how can the Vatican get away with telling an AIDS-ravaged impoverished African community that “science shows condoms are ineffective against STDs” ?
why is the reality show “ghost hunters” so popular?
why can any group buy commercial air time and claim absolutely anything they want? … such as “studies show gays dont make good parents” ??
WHY IS our standards on public information so LOW?
…why is legitimate information allowed to be polluted with s**t?

Deregulation.
It used to be regulated. But Ronald Reagan repealed most of it and Clinton finalized it. Sad. Everything consumer rights advocates (like Ralph Nader) worked so hard for gone with the stroke of a pen from a blubbering imbecile.
As a nerd I saw one benefit from it–Transformers the Animated Series. It was obviously a commercial targeted to kids to sell an endless line-up of action figures.
Reagan repealed a law in the 1980’s that made it forbidden to target kids directly with marketing.
Ever wonder the origins of the infomercial?
Before they existed, there was the TV test pattern.
But they realized it (dead air) was “inefficient” so the broadcasting behemoths were solicited to extended their reach and developed them.
The biggest proponents of this BS is the parent companies of the broadcast giants.
They’re all owned by the same small group of people.
Ever watch 30 Rock? They make fun of this and people think it’s a joke, but it’s all TRUE.
GE owns NBC, NBC has QVC, etc. The manufacturing arm of the multinational is advertising product through a medium (television) that they already own. And is being sugar coated by their marketing arm.
It’s a clusterf–k of excessive capitalistic bulls–t.
Socialists, commies, etc. realize this is wrong.
Consumer rights groups know this is wrong.
But so should capitalists–but most of the don’t.
Their beliefs are based on the precept that people are rational and informed when buying things, and that competition is crucial. But the system doesn’t accept seemingly random data because it is PATHETICALLY incomplete.
It doesn’t accept that they’re system is replete with inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and isn’t perfect.
It actually operates on the assumption that it’s perfect, when it isn’t.
Every time their system fails they ignore it as an extraneous factor operating on deus ex machina rather than admitting that they could be wrong.
All it does is seek to preserve the illusion of choice and economic competition when there is clear omnipresent evidence of a cartel.
How is there any legitimate choice when they’ve controlled production? Isn’t that everything conservatives have come to fear about communism?
And who gives a crap about choice? I don’t want f–king choices! If I was given the choice I want the best f–king thing I can get, and then stick with it. Why would I pick a substandard product?
EDIT:
Liberal fascists? WTF? LOLOLOLOLOL! I was thinking the same exact thing, questioner.
F–ker if by liberal fascists you mean the neo-conservatve movement, then rock on brother man.
Otherwise STFU ’cause you’re only lowering your best answer percentage.
For a good social control people must be ignorant in everything, they must be able to defend and accept this system.
Our public information comes from the media which is a total propaganda.
Go back to sleep america said bill hicks, we have figured out the problem, you are allowed to think as we tell you.
As to anything with drugs, the media and the government are in the pockets of the pharmaceutical industry. Hey, man, there’s no real oversight. It’s all about profit, and only for a few.
And I bought an electronic mouse buster device, a plug in that was supposed to emit a higher frequency sound to scare them away. It not only didn’t work, but it called them from the garage into the house. Let the buyer beware.
Heyoka
The FDA is in over their heads trying to shut down products AS SEEN ON TV. An employee came to my class once and told us basically if it involved any “easy payments” of something something .95 then it’s a scam.
But don’t dare speak the truth that the Abrahamic monster is obviously a myth. Interesting question.
See the Hatch Act of 1995. Good old Mormon Senator Orrin Hatch pushed through a bill taking away FDA control over junk medicine. It was veto-proof like that horrid Telecomm Act of 1996 so Clinton signed it. It wouldn’t have mattered had he vetoed it- Hatch had the votes to override.
Search Google to see if the article “Scorin’ With Orrin” is still up. It’s a brilliant piece of work. The sellers of capsules containing insect bits and bat droppings need only add the label disclaimer “Dietary supplement. No medical or health claims made” and they’re home free. Visit a health-food store and read the labels to see for yourself.
Here’s a good way to lose your account: provide factual information in Y/A’s “alternative medicine” section. Those nuts are as entrenched as a Creationist and some should be in jail for giving medical advice when they are not doctors.
The pharmaceutical industry is NOT involved with this.
LOL, I was expecting this to be at the end:
“WHY are there atheists in Religion and Spirituality?”
I’ll point my bone at them that will fix them up for sure.
